Two highly-skilled, professional taiko drum craftsman, Jesse and Carla Maddox run Taikos.com. Every step of the taiko making process is hand-crafted by this husband and wife team based in Colorado. We take pride in our taiko craftsmanship, and we value all of our customers, which is why we are always available to answer any of your questions by phone, email, or live chat seven days a week. That is, when we both aren't in the taiko shop! We fully respect and are inspired by all the taiko pioneers who made the ancient art of taiko a modern and popular style of music and performance. Because you are buying direct from us, the taiko makers, you are bypassing the retail mark-up. We make all of our taiko drums by hand per order in Monument, Colorado. Because we do not have to pay rent for a retail space, hire salesmen, or store unsold taiko, we can sell our drums for an affordable price.

Every shime daiko, hira daiko, okedo daiko, nagado, and katsugi is hand crafted for your order! Every taiko drum body is made from oak, but special order taiko drum bodies are available upon request. We can make custom taiko from purple heart, paduak, maple, ash and many other types of exotic woods upon request.

Our taiko bodies...

We carefully and thoroughly inspect every piece of wood for imperfections and moisture content. Because our lumber is hand selected our finished taiko bodies are uniform in color and grain flow making the taiko look as if they were carved from a single piece of wood. Every taiko is assembled by hand, utilizing our extensive taiko building experience making us proud to offer a great warranty on every taiko sale.

Selecting the taiko skins....

Taikos.com only uses rawhide that was specifically manufactured for our taiko. Once processed, we inspect the skins for any imperfections that may have passed through the manufacturing process. Since every head is made specifically for your taiko, both heads will be matched in thickness and weight. The two rows of functional and decorative stitches around the heads are sewn with heavy-duty treated cord, around treated solid steel rings.

Heading the taiko...

Next, if chosen during checkout, we paint the decorative black border around the taiko heads with a very tough, scratch resistant, industrial grade black urethane paint. When finished, your heads are formed to the taiko drum body, and then they are temporarily tightened. It is now time to start the drying process. At Taikos.com we like to keep the taiko for up to 7 days to allow for proper drying of the heads. During this time, we will tune and de-tune the taiko heads many times. You will find this process lends to a very long in-tune time compared to other tunable taiko.

Drums and Hardware Original Purchaser Limited Warranty: Taikos.com Drums, including attached hardware, and Taikos.com separate accessory hardware which may be purchased with a Drum or as separate items ("Accessory Hardware") are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship to the original owner, subject to all of the following terms and conditions:

Warranty Time Period: The Warranty provided herein is for the following periods, measured in each case from the date of the original purchase: (1) years for the Drum shell itself, (B) 7 days for the drum heads (1) year for the Drum hardware (tuning mechanisms)

Warranty Coverage: This Warranty is given by Taikos.com, P. O. Box 2023 Monument, CO, 80132, only to the original purchaser of a Drum or Accessory Hardware. Taikos.com will repair or replace the Drum shell itself if it proves defective under normal use and service during the one (1) year warranty Time Period stated above which Taikos.com examination shall disclose to its satisfaction to be defective. Taikos.com will repair or replace any part or parts of the attached Drum hardware and/or Accessory Hardware which may prove defective under normal use and service during the one (1) year Warranty Time Period stated above which Taikos.com examination shall disclose to its satisfaction to be defective. Taikos.com will repair or replace any Drum heads which may prove defective under normal use, and service during the seven (7) day warranty time period which Taikos.com examination shall disclose to its satisfaction to be thus defective.

This Warranty Does Not Cover: (A) damage or defects due to alteration, misuse, abuse, normal wear and tear, or extremes of temperature or humidity or over tensioning of the heads: (B) accidental or intentional damage; (C) damage in shipping; (D) the repair or replacement of expendable maintenance items including but not limited to, heads, drumsticks, beaters, springs or straps; (E) plating on metal parts; (F) any damage from accessories (straps, etc.); (G) sound characteristics (sound is a subjective matter and is not warranted) (H) taiko drums or heads made custom from options not available in our online catalog.

Warranty Limitations and Disclaimers: Taikos.com sole and exclusive responsibility shall be as provided under this Warranty and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, SHALL TAIKOS.COM BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS YOUR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AND IS MADE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED; ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. No person, whether or not an agent of Taikos.com is authorized to make or assume any obligations other than those stated in this Warranty.
