Taiko Head Care

While not a requirement, slightly loosening the tuning ropes each time after you are finished playing will not only make you more familiar with tuning your instrument, but it will also significantly increase the life of your drum head.

Never play the taiko head when it is wet.

During transportation, it is not recommended to leave the taiko inside of a vehicle or trailer where temperatures could exceed 150° F. High temperatures will cause the taiko head to shrink.

Remember the taiko head is skin, so if it is really old and looks like it is starting to "crack" then buy a very good quality, alcohol free lotion and put a little on the heads and work it in really well. Remember to let the taiko head dry thoroughly before playing!
