We do not add any audio effects or apply
any equalization to our recordings to enhance the sound. All of
the sounds you hear are completely dry without any added effects
or EQ and are completely achievable in an acoustic performance.
Keep in mind that a wide range of tones can be obtained with our
rope tuned taiko.
Taiko drum samples technical info
A full frequency monitoring system (20hz to 20khz) is required
to hear the majority of the frequency range of our taiko. Although
our taiko drums do produce frequencies well below 20hz, the 20-20
recommendation for your monitoring system is a minimum. For instance,
typical computer speakers only have a frequency range from about
100hz to 20khz . This means the lower dominate frequencies of
our taiko drums are being filtered out by your speakers.
Real world taiko drum frequency examples
36x14 Hira Daiko Audio
Our smallest hira daiko (the 36x14) was tuned
so the strongest peak frequency was 97hz, typical computer speakers
would not even play this frequency and instead the speakers would
feature a frequency at its lowest range giving a false sense of
tone for this taiko. Please see the below screen shots taken at
the Asylum Moon recording studio of the frequency response of
this drum.
Visual Examples of our 36x14 Hira Daiko Frequency
60x24 Hira Daiko Audio
Our largest hira daiko (the 60x24) was tuned so the strongest
frequency peaks were at 118hz and 64hz with a gradual slope down
to 10hz, typical "higher end" computer speakers can
not play the lower frequency and instead the speakers feature
a frequency at its lowest range giving a false sense of tone for
this taiko. Some of the lowest frequencies produced by this taiko
are beyond the human hearing range and instead are felt by the
performers and the audience. Please see the below screen shots
taken at the Asylum Moon recording studio of the frequency response
of this drum.
